September 21, 2009 by Vanessa Culpepper

Here is my exclusive interview with Leah Pipes from ”Sorority Row”….

Doesn’t she look like she could be Rebecca Romijn’s little sis?? Check out her new film that just hit theatres, perfect for the season!

CAM: This is nice. I’ve never been here before.

LP: Isn’t this a great Hotel? It’s actually a historic landmark. Natalie Wood had her honeymoon here.

CAM: Oh I loved her… Especially in Splendor in the Grass.

LP: She was so beautiful!

CAM: What’s your favorite movie?

LP: My favorite film of all time, since I was 3 years old, has been The Princess Bride.

CAM: I love that movie!

LP: Yeah, it’s gotten to the point where I’m watching it, but I’m not. It’s become more like a comfort thing to me because I’m obsessed with this film since it’s so ingrained in me from my childhood. And I think Wesley is the hottest guy!

CAM: Oh I know! I love how that movie has everything; it’s funny, romantic…

LP: Yup –Fighting, revenge, true love, miracles. I’m not going to quote that for the rest of this interview, I promise.

CAM: Were you ever in a Sorority or involved in Greek Life?

LP: No. I have never gone to college, so this was a very foreign world to me; I’m really kind of a nerd. My mom was in a Sorority, so I asked her a few questions. I also read a book called Pledged, which educated me a little bit more on the mentality of Sorority girls.

CAM: So what all did you have to do to get into character? Did you have to go to events to research it more?

LP: No, I didn’t ever go any Sorority events, –I wasn’t that bold. But I read the book, and worked a few days with Stewart while in Pittsburgh just researching the character, giving her a background, giving her a reason for acting the way she does throughout the film –which is pretty mean! Jessica is a pretty malicious character.

CAM: Speaking of malicious, what’s the most evil act of revenge you’ve ever done to a boyfriend or roommate?

LP: A boyfriend or roommate…hmmm…

CAM: you must be so nice…

LP: I cannot hold a grudge for the life of me; I just get over things too fast. That, and I can never come up with a clever and creative enough way to get them back! I usually end up forgetting about it and then it just kind of fades away into the future.

CAM: Know what I did once

LP: What?

CAM: I had a roommate once who kept stealing my food…I got so annoyed, that I hid her Chanel perfume, and the best part about it was that I hid it in her own messy room. That is probably the meanest revenge story I have.

LP: I thought you were going to say you put laxatives in the food! That would have been really funny.

CAM: Haha no! But it made it clean her room spotless the very next day, so she obviously found it.

LP: You did her a favour!

CAM: Was it fun playing a bitchy character? Since you’re so nice, was it cool to tap into the inner Grrrrr?

LP: It was exhausting! It was so much fun, but I have to say, being a bitch is surprisingly tiring. I don’t know how those girls do it. I have a newfound respect for them because they’re working their asses off to be mean ALL the time. And they are so viciously schemy, they put so much thought into it! I’m way too lazy to be mean; I’m forced to be nice out of laziness I guess.

CAM: What was the most gruesome thing that happened while filming this movie? Do you have any crazy stories?

LP: Well we filmed in a slaughterhouse, so we were walking around on tile floors with drains and there were these metal hooks everywhere where they hang pigs. You could almost hear the squeals and it was just one of those places where you’re like, oh this is kind of gross. But it was good for getting into character, so we all just had fun with it.

CAM: Are you a fan of horror films? If so, what’s your favorite one?

LP: I can’t watch horror films. I’m just a big nerd, but I do like thrillers, so I really like Rear Window.

CAM: With Grace Kelly? I love that movie!

LP: Yeah! I have a whopping crush on James Stewart. Always have, always will, so I love that film. The cool thing about James Stewart was that he was himself; he was immensely talented, but he didn’t try to act super cool or over the top. He was a little bit of a geek. I’m so attracted to that, I love the nerds who own it!

CAM: What’s the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?

LP: When I was about six and my brother was eight, we shared bunkbeds. He slept in the top bunk. In the middle of the night, he woke me up saying, “Leah, LEAH! Wake up! There’s a finger coming out of the hat on the side of my bed!” I bolted out of my room and hauled ass to my mom’s room, thinking there was some creepy finger chasing after me out of nowhere. I just remember that run across that long hallway and that black and white checkered floor. The walls were all windows, so you had to cross the house keeping your eye on the door.

CAM: Was he just saying that to scare you?

LP: To this day, he claims he “REALLY” saw a finger! He got me. He and my older sister would go underneath the house, and figure out where I was just so they could knock on the floor to scare me. They didn’t even tell me this until I was 16! They told me, “Remember when you used to hear noises and mom would say it was just the old house creaking? Well it was us.” And so now I have many problems with creaking floors, don’t like them, don’t trust them all because of my brother and sister.

CAM: Well I hope you’ve enjoyed your time here.  It was really nice to meet you!

LP:  It was nice meeting you!

xoxo,

Vanessa
