The 5th Twilight

So I finally finished the partial draft of Stephenie Meyer’s Midnight Sun and I want more. I think it was a brilliant idea to re-write Twilight from Edward’s perspective because 1: who doesn’t want to read it? and 2: there were some portions that weren’t in the original novel–when Edward and Bella were away from each other–that really added to understanding the whole picture. However, because someone decided to illegally leak the draft, we only get to read 264 pages of the novel until Meyer is in a better mood. Keep in mind that she posted the pdf version of the unfinished draft on her website last August. How long does it take to get back in writing mode?? Her readers want the rest! What is funny is that I already know the story and how it ends, but it is so much better to see it through Edwards eyes…and oh what beautiful eyes he would have. If anyone else was confused as to why Edward chose Bella–a normal and clumsy human–this book gives a great insight into what Edward is feeling and thinking and makes you fall in love with the story all over againĀ  [I am now re-reading Twilight].

Here is what Meyer told Entertainment Weekly in November 2008: “I do not feel alone with the manuscript. And I cannot write when I don’t feel alone. So my goal is to go for, like, I don’t know, two years without ever hearing the words Midnight Sun. And once I’m pretty sure that everyone’s forgotten about it, I think I’ll be able to get to the place where I’m alone with it again. Then I’ll be able to sneak in and work on it again.”

I really hope she doesn’t wait a whole two years before finishing it. Meyer also said that she doesn’t plan on extending Edward’s perspective into the other three books; she just wants her readers to know Edward as they know Bella and one book should be able to do that.

Meyer also told Entertainment Weekly that she is working on some sort of Mermaid story so keep an eye out for that.

Yours,

Samantha [Cullen]

I’ve never seemed to jump on the Twilight bandwagon…is it really that good of a book? I have never gotten into sci-fi books before, would you still recommend it? Thanks!!

Chelsea, I totally recommend it. While it is about vampires, I consider it more of a love story.

Sam, I also loved what I read of the 5th book! Edward’s point of view is actually more interesting than Bella’s. I hope she finishes writing it. I do NOT want to wait two more years!

I would definitely recommend these books to anyone–young or old. They are great books to get someone who would normally dread reading to enjoy it. There isn’t much that’s better than someone telling me they enjoyed reading a book I recommended. Twilight is one of those books!
